I meant Francis Bacon not Francis Bacon!

Several of you connected Jim White to the the Francis Bacon that wrote The New Atlantis in 1627. I meant Francis Bacon the British painter, though thanks to Wikipedia I now know that he is a collateral descendant of Francis Bacon the Elizabethian philosopher. I also know that either way is fine and Jim White would enjoy being connected to either of these dead men but several of you just lost your place on my all conference listening in class team.

Six Degrees of Francis Bacon

The six degrees are looking good. I thought I would post and remind anyone who hasn't yet that JIM WHITE is who we're connecting to Francis Bacon, not JIM SHAW. Though he's cool too. Remember to bring a Pumpkin to class on Monday for the first part of our Rachel Whiteread Pumpkin Project. The 2x4 pieces were really nice. Let's make sure and get pictures of all of them. See ya tomorrow.

Success

I think the show was a success. There were at least 80 people over the course of the evening and the band was GREAT. Congrats on all of the hard work, organizing, bringing food and showing up. All of the Sertoma folks couldn't say enough good stuff about the class and the art.
Remember to bring a 2x4(1.5 x 3.5 inches) to class on Monday for our project for this week.

Day of the Show

Install went really well on Monday. I think it's interesting looking at all the work in the store compared to seeing it at our critique last week. The store really absorbs the work. I'm curious to see the response of people that won't know exactly where the work is. Will they be able to tell what's art and what's not in the store. Is the whole store art now? One big collaborative installation? Doc said she was gonna try to clear some isles and make a little room for opening night. Also we are gonna leave the show up for at least one week. Someone wanted to buy Adam's piece on Tuesday. Doc invited him to the show to see if Adam's willing to part with it. Don't forget to bring food. Sertoma is providing paper plates.

Install on Monday

Hey all,
Great work last night at the critique. I'm excited about seeing it all at the store. Remember bring all hardware you need to hang your work. I'm bringing some tools but if you have your own bring em' as well. I am helping Rebecca move her piece from S-3 to the store on Monday so we may be there a little after 4:00pm but don't wait on us. Go ahead and get started. Also don't forget fliers, posters, postcards. It's never too late, though to do them after the opening would be lame.
